We are deluged with books, articles and fads on what to eat or not eat, what special breathing technique can get us on a rocket ship to “nirvana” or what hot new product we need to reach everlasting happiness. We are looking for a magic bullet, a secret potion or diet that will solve all our (gut health, mental health, and anxiety) problems.

  • Women are more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, pain, and insomnia than men. Women are more severely affected than men from alcohol abuse and heart disease. Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, thyroid disease, depression and anxiety disorders. 

Resilience is not enough to deal with the stressors and challenges of today. Our new word, Rootsilience, takes the notion of “resilience” a step deeper, and teaches us to be grounded, rooted and able to respond to stressors from a place of stability rather than being stretched beyond our limits.

Rootsilience (“root - zeel - ience”) is a new word and rhymes with resilience. We invented the word because to affect real, transformational change, we need to create new consciousness with new language. Samantha is passionate about inviting individuals to discover their path and purpose, igniting their healing potential and transforming the way we incorporate mind, body, and spirit in our daily lives. Her career path has focused on women’s empowerment, and she works to create a better future for women and the organizations they lead by facilitating their growth and power.

Samantha's transformational coaching process guides her clients to identify, create, and steward opportunities that align with their values and vision for the world and for themselves. She employs methods and strategies to bring focus back to what is essential– what feeds our purpose and allows us to flourish, a balance that makes us whole, present, and well.

Samantha holds a B.A. from Tufts University and earned a M.A. in U.S. Women's History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, trained at the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, Samantha works with clients to develop and implement effective strategies to improve their health using lifestyle change, nutrition, joyful movement, sleep practices, and stress management.

Beyond Resilience to Rootsilience amplifies the voices of those who identify as women. We are activating women to embody our roles as guardians of the earth by nurturing and tending to the roots of our whole selves. We’ve chosen to focus on women for many of the reasons we expand upon on our book, Beyond Resilience to Rootsilience.

We use the word “women” to mean those assigned as women at birth, as we write extensively about aspects of the female anatomy and point to studies and statistics that highlight many of the unique differences in women’s and men’s mental, physical, and behavioral health. That said, the Rootsilience Leadership Path is available for anyone, regardless of gender or social expression, and we hope that anyone who is drawn to a more inclusive and holistic approach to leadership will gain valuable insights from this book.
